Walk In Test Centre Ruthin

A new walk-in Test-Centre has opened today in the County Hall Car-Park, Ruthin.

You do not need to book and results will be texted to you within 72 hours! This facility will be available for the next few weeks – it isn’t permanent. I will keep you informed as this develops.

If in doubt the other nearest test centre is still based at the Deeside Business Park.

Vulnerable Residents

The vulnerable and residents on the County’s Shielding register in Denbighshire will have been called again as part of the Well-Being Checks during the recent Fire-break Lock Down here in Wales. There has been a lot of positive feedback about this service but please let me know if you are on the shielding list but did not receive a call.If you are ever unsure or worried about a call you have received call 01824 706000 to check that the call was from DCC.

Good Neighbours

It is a good time to remind everyone to be good neighbours, especially as winter approaches, and to ask you to keep an eye on elderly residents in your Community. I have noticed that when I am speaking to residents over the telephone, many of them are pleased just to have a chat; therefore let’s not forget that a call a day helps to keep the blues away.

Covid

The number of Covid cases have fallen in North Wales but they have still been rising in South Wales. Now that the Fire-break has been lifted it is now in our hands to follow the basic rules to keep ourselves and other people safe.

Post Office

I am pleased to announce that there will be a new Mobile Post Office Counter Service for Llanferres beginning Thursday 19th November. This is an excellent friendly service and the vehicle will park in the slip road by St Berres Church entrance.

The Service opening hours for all our villages will also be changing as from next Thursday and they are as follows:

Llandegla Car Park 12.00 to 13.00

Llanarmon Yn Ial Raven Car Park 13.30 to 14.30

Eryrys Outside Canolfan Dewi Sant 14.45 to 15.15

Llanferres St Berres slip road 15.30 to 16.15

All these services will run weekly on a Thursday until further notice but if we do not use them, we could lose them. Don't forget you can use the service in any of our villages which may still be closer than travelling to Ruthin or Mold. During my discussions with the Post Office they confirmed that they intend to continue with the Mobile Van service in future. This means that they can park, open the doors and serve straight away. It also means that the Communities they serve do not have to arrange to open village halls etc. You must still observe the social distancing rules and wear a face mask at all times. It may also be a good idea to remember to take an umbrella with you!!

The Mobile Post Office Service includes:

 Post letters and parcels.

Travel money and travel money card.

 Bill payments.

 Cash withdrawals from Bank Accounts.

 Personal and business banking deposits.

 Change service for Businesses.

 Savings accounts.

 Vehicle tax.

 Home phone and broadband.

 One4All gift cards.

 Health Lottery.

 Mobile phone top ups.

 Gas and Electric top ups.

Bus Services

Because England is now in Lock Down for the month of November it has been decided to terminate the X1 Bus Service (Ruthin to Chester via Mold) in Mold rather than Chester.

The Chester link will restart on the 2nd December.

Recycling

Denbighshire’s main recycling centres reopened on the 9th November. You still need to book a slot and this can be done by telephone on 01824 706000 or online by visiting http://www.denbighshire.gov.uk/recycling

Libraries

Denbighshire’s Libraries also reopened on the 9th and you can browse, collect books as well as using their Computers and the One Stop Service by making an appointment at your local Library.

Ruthin Library telephone number is 01824 705274.

Scams

The police have advised that there is yet another scam doing the rounds which looks very authentic and appears to have been sent by the Royal Mail.

It states that the Royal Mail have tried to deliver a parcel and goes on to say that there is a £1.99 fee to pay. Once again do not click on the link because they are after bank details etc.

If you receive any e-mail like this or any that appear to be a scam please forward them to report@phishing.gov.uk
