We met 1pm in the big tent outside The Raven Inn. Before setting off on our hike, Ruth did a Polish warm-up - we pretended to load bananas onto a boat, shouting 'HEY', standing in lines and tapping our neighbours knees. To the choir, all completely normal. Other folk looked bemused.
We set off on the first leg of the journey, Llanarmon-Eryrys (2 mile uphill). Those of a more adventurous nature followed across fields, over a very old stone bridge and up the Nant.
Rosy cheeked we reached another big tent at The Sun Inn. We were happy that The Brymbo Male Choir, all in matching coats with badges, and Barbershop Quartet Contraband had joined us on our singing/drinking/walking day. The Brymbo Men had song sheets with lyrics from war days; these were distributed and everyone was encouraged to join in.
Second leg: Eryrys-Graianrhyd (1.5 mile downhill). Stopped to take photos of choir members standing by Gavin's new well. Took footpath to right, across stream and down to B-road. No tent at Rose & Crown, singing in car-park.
Third leg: Graianrhyd-Llanarmon (2.5 mile flat). Along bridle path and back roads; lots of wild flowers. Left onto footpath which passes Duncan's house and left again through wild garlic path to reach Llanarmon.
Yes, you've guessed it, more singing and carousing into the evening!
