Ruth Frances Evans - Soprano & Conductor

 

Ruth Frances Evans MA MA Oxon is a Soprano and conductor from Llanarmon-yn-Iâl, Denbighshire. An undergraduate of Oxford University (St Edmund Hall) with a choral scholarship and a maters degree in music from Bangor University, studying voice with Marian Bryfdir. Ruth works for Welsh National Opera, as their MAX North Wales Project Officer and is co-ordinating a new Welsh language oratorio Gair ar Gnawd (Word on Flesh) in Caernarfon.

  

Ruth is an oratorio and choral singer with previous solo experience including: -

  • Durufle's Reqiuem in Bangor Cathedral with Bangor University Orchestra, Bangor University Chamber Choir and Ensemble Cymru
  • Vivaldi's Gloria with the Welsh Chamber Orchestra and Glyndŵr University Community Chorus
  • Faure's Reqiuem conducted by Mervyn Cousins (ex-Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod Executive Director) in St Giles, Wrexham
  • Mozart's Missa Brevis in D with the Chester Cathedral Nave Choir

As well as conducting the local community choir, Côr Dewi Sant, Ruth is also the musical director of Côr Meibion Caerwys (Caerwys Male Voice Choir) and the Chester Music Society Youth Alumni Choir. 

Ruth privately teaches singing and begineer piano (Grades 1-3) in the Ruthin area, with pupils taught in line with the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) syllabus.
