The defibrillators or defibs were purchased with thanks to all who contributed in the fundraising efforts of 2015/16 and also the British Heart Foundation who gave a grant.
They are registered with the ambulance service, available 24 hours a day and sited in alarmed cabinets without locks as follows:
Llanarmon on the outside wall of the shop - grid reference SJ190561.
Eryrys on the outside wall of Canolfan Dewi Sant - grid reference SJ203578.
Graianrhyd inside the red phone box on the B5430 by Maes Gwyn (old council houses) - grid reference SJ214562.
Please take a look next time you go past - and work out which is your closest one.
If you need access to these defibrillators it is imperative that someone calls 999 or 112 first so that help is on the way - otherwise you'll just be there on your own and survival chances will diminish.
CardioPulmonaryResuscitatation or CPR is essential to keep the heart muscle alive so always send or phone a second person for the defib. whilst you or someone else carries out CPR.
The defibs are very easy to use and you do not need any special training to use them. Just grab it and go. The defib case contains details of how to apply the pads, how to switch it on and it then talks you through everything anyone needs to do. If an electric shock is not needed you cannot give a shock.
CPR however needs to be done correctly to ensure it is effective and to give the patient every chance of survival. Please attend training if you think you would benefit or if it's a long time since you had an update.
Ongoing free training is still currently available at Llanarmon Old Schoolroom and Canolfan Dewi Sant by request. Please contact [email protected] for more information or to attend the next session.
